I have been studying this subject since school (when I completed
my GCSE in the subject) and have always worked with the medium
at first making coil and slab pots, but particularly working on
the wheel. I was always interested in making functional ware and
found the wheel enabled this in a quick and easy manner. I also
made house signs (an example of which can be found on our house
and our next-door-neighbour's).Interior Design and Glass
Work
I then went on to study Interior Design and found the history
of architecture and interiors very inspiring. I am a lecturer by
profession and so have taken every opportunity to study subjects
that are of interest to me. I spent a further year studying
'leaded and tiffany work' when I commenced working with glass
and have spent a further 2 years studying 'warm glass' or glass
fusing.
Other Influences
I love walking and running and so enjoy the 'out of doors'
experience. Much of what one can find in nature has inspired
some of my work and many of my designs try to capture the
beauty found in the countryside and which reflect the spirit of
the creator. |
